Peter McLean will be in town for a Wood Engraving workshop in May. This two-day, hands on workshop exploring the art of wood engraving is suitable for beginners or those with some prior printmaking experience who want to explore a new technique. Prints can be produced without a press and using only a small number of specialized tools, so it is suitable for those without a large studio space or budget.
This workshop will cover all aspects of wood engraving including:
history of the medium with examples to see; image design; printing block
preparation; correct use of engraving tools to create an image; and
hand printing. Students will produce a black and white image of their
own design and print a small edition. All specialized materials and
equipment will be provided.
